Welcome ...

Our Mission
In light of its commitment to excellence in academic inquiry, appreciation of diversity, stewardship of the world’s resources, and the promotion of lifelong learning and service, as stated in the University Mission Statement, the University of Dubuque strongly affirms the value of international education in realizing this mission.  International experience can challenge, enlighten, teach, and inspire our students to become global stewards of the world they must inherit.

What That Means for You
The International Studies Program was created to promote study abroad for the students and faculty of the University of Dubuque.

  • Short term study trips are offered at least once each semester.  These trips are offered for 1-3 hours of academic credit and are led by University faculty.
  • If you are interested in a semester or year abroad, we can help you search.  In addition, we will help you with applications and travel plans and will be your University contact while you are abroad.  Although the University does not currently sponsor its own semester abroad programs, we have the knowledge and experience to help you find a program that’s right for you.
  • Scholarships and financial aid may be available.

Why Study Abroad?
  • Learn another language
  • Make new friends
  • Challenge yourself
  • Broaden your perspectives
  • Enhance your resume
  • And, most of all, create memories to last a lifetime
